San Francisco 2012

An early summer visit to the Bay Area. June 28 - July 2.
  • Hyde Street -- it's even steeper than it looks.
  • Lombard Street (yes, we drove it later in the visit).
  • Lombard Street with it's gardens.
  • How do you spell love? G-h-i-r...
  • The Queen of Ghirardelli Square
  • Mixing Chocolate.
  • Of the many street performers, this is one with talent. (He was a hired player, not a busker.)
  • Color abounds in Chinatown.
  • Turntable at Powell Street -- before the tourist hordes and street performers swallowed the area.
  • We reached Coit Tower after a steep staircase climb up from the Embarcadero.
  • View from the tower top: Golden Gate Bridge, Marina District, SF Bay, Alcatraz.
  • Out the top of Coit Tower.
  • Change left between the view windows and outer ledge. I don't know why...
  • View toward the financial district.
  • One of many restored and operational vintage trolley cars. (We used them often.)
  • Another cable car ride; one with noted history. The movie was "Dark Passage", released in 1947.
  • In case you were curious. The key is "Hold On".
  • Sailing past a rough looking Alcatraz Island.
  • Blue Heron watching picnickers near Fort Point.
  • My long walk to the bridge found it wrapped in fog.
  • Center span popped in and out...
  • Centered under the span at the wall of Fort Point.
  • An image only an engineer could love.
  • Rusty Links -- Sea wall retaining fence at Fort Point.
  • After walking from Fisherman's Warf to the Golden Gate (and back), this was lunch. Hot. Fudge. Sundae.
  • ... 30-seconds later.
  • Yvonne in solitude amongst the redwoods. Muir Woods, CA
  • Giant Redwoods of Muir Woods
  • A cool, foggy July day at Stinson Beach, Marin County, CA. I still needed to keep my bald noggin' covered to prevent sunburn. Thanks for looking. ;-)
